While I have mostly worked traditionally as an artist since before 2018, capturing my work digitally is something I’ve always had to do. From the very first time I experimented using a Polaroid camera in the late 1990s to photograph my oil paintings, right on up through today’s digital cameras, archiving my work has always been important to me.
The payoff in spending hours on a piece of artwork has always been being able to step back from it and take it all in. Be it a pencil drawing, ink illustration, or full painting, hours can be spent on preparing the art, gathering reference photos, making corrections, etc. At some point, If I’m lucky, I might be able to view the art as a viewer and not as an artist.
Being able to capture my artwork to share online digitally is one of the highlights of being an artist for me. Social media makes this especially possible. Online commerce then makes it possible for me to sell my art to others. Today, I am working exclusively digitally, using either my Wacom Intuos Pro M or iPad Pro. The ability to share my artwork by going straight to digital means even faster updates and sharing of my art online.
One of the ways I’m archiving my work these days is by making fantasy art prints. Since all my art is now digitally created, I like making hard copy prints of my art. I am also able to make these prints available for sale here in my online store. The art prints shown on this page are printed by me directly in my studio. To produce my prints, I am using an Epson SureColor P800 17″ Inkjet Color Printer with Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster. All of my fantasy art prints from this page are individually printed and hand signed by me and shipped directly from me to you.
The photo shown here is an example of what the Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster texture is like. Don’t worry, you won’t see this texure when you’re normally viewing the print. You’d have to be really close up to see it with the light hitting it perfectly. It is a subtle texture but definitely different than the normal glossy prints. It does have a nice, professional quality look to it in my humble opinion.
