In the past, to create special effects with ink on paper, there were several tools needed. Tools like special opaque white ink and zip-a-tone, to razor blades for scraping into the ink and toothbrushes for splattering ink onto the paper are common working analog (traditionally.)
But with digital, all of those types of effects (and more) are easily available and don’t cost any more or take up any physical space. Let’s hear it for de-cluttering artist’s studios of unused art supplies. I know I have way more paints, brushes, pens, and paper than I actually use. For me, going all-in with digital using Procreate ink brushes is one way to curb those excess art supplies while motivating me to get right to the art making.◼️
