The Realm Ethereal Card Deck Video Preview

Yesterday, I received a printed mock-up sample of my Realm Ethereal Card Deck. It was nice to actually hold a printed sample of the deck. I could see where I might want to make some color tweaks here and there, but overall, I’m happy how this sample turned out.

The Realm Ethereal Card Deck Preview

Here is preview of some of the cards (there will be a total of 36 cards) and a box mock-up for my upcoming Realm Ethereal Card Deck.

Right now, the cards will be sized at 3.5″ x 5″. A couple of other things to work on for the cards is finalizing the design of the backs as well as working on the text on the back of each card. I’m also still finalizing the box art.

In addition to that, there may also be an inserted book, same size as the cards. If that happens, that would open up the possibility of adding more content. I’ve ordered some print samples of the project (box and cards.) Once I receive the samples to see how everything fits, I can better judge how to finalize the card deck.

Lysandra, The Ethereal of Transition

LYSANDRA-13X19-fantasy-art-print
Art by Rene Arreola
Lysandra is an Ethereal I wanted to take in a different direction. For starters, her symbolic face-plate is removed, hanging above her face. For all of my Ethereals prior to this piece, I always showed their faces covered by some kind of symbol. After some time, I would then paint an Ethereal Reveal piece, revealing the faces behind those symbols.

The title of this new painting is “Lysandra, the Ethereal of Transition”. I focused on the character being in a “reveal” moment. Rather than covering up her face, Lysandra is unmasked and her true persona shown to us. The more I worked on the piece, it just felt like Lysandra would be that playful Ethereal.

Lysandra’s pose is probably the most unique when compared to other Ethereals I’ve created. Perhaps it has to do with the shortening of summer days, and wanting to take advantage of those days. Or, the desire to be outdoors and being carefree about it all. Having fun, whether it be working out, dancing, or traveling, while enjoying life and doing it. I envisioned her pose to indicate a “take it all in” attitude, head pointed up, nose held high toward the sky. Lysandra inhales and confidently whispers, “we’ve got this.”

Her hair transitioning into wings, symbolizing hope and growth. Thoughts and ideas transitioning into new concepts. The gold on her body, a shining beacon of positive vibrations that can change and shape rivers. Rivers that can cut through stone and rock, given enough time and determination.

Transition seems to be what the world is facing right now. It means different things to different people. We’re all doing what we can or what it is we know how to do. I know how to make art, so that’s what I do 🙂

New fantasy art prints and gaming play mats/mouse pads are available of “Lysandra, the Ethereal of Transition”.

New Large Mouse Pads / Desk Mats

I’ve been wanting to offer more of my art on larger mouse pads / gaming play mats. About a year ago, I introduced four initial mouse pads. Today, I can now offer more. As of this post, there are now 21 total mouse pads now available in my online store. I love these things and I use them everyday. As you can see here, I have “Elandra” as my current oversized mouse pad.

These new mouse pads are 1/8″ thick and have a nice substantial heft to them. The fronts are soft, neoprene dye sublimation printed. The backs are rubber and non-slip. They are available for sale in my online store.

Lysandra and The Rocks – Work in Progress

A progress update on the Ethereal Lysandra. Working on rocks in particular in this update. Quite fun actually.

Ethereals Rough Sketches

Here are some rough sketches for new pieces to be included in my upcoming Realm Ethereal art book. These are the first five rough sketches of a total of 23 new pieces.
