As a freelance illustrator, I specialize in commissions of comic book related artwork as well as fantasy art and science fiction art. Everything from fully painted illustrations to spot drawings is my specialty. I can also illustrate non-fiction themes. I can work in pencil, pen and brush with ink, watercolor, arcylic, gouache and water-miscible oils. I can also create digital illustrations using Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. Walter Simon's "The Mighty Thor" Artist's Edition from IDW and Marvel Comics
Talk about a monster of book! This hardcover book measures 12.25" by 17.25". And it weighs in at a hefty 6 lbs! This edition collects "The Mighty Thor" issues 337, 338, 339, 340, 360, 361, 362 (originally printed in serial format by Marvel Comics.) This artist's edition presents life size reproductions of artist Walter Simon's original artwork... white out marks, paste ups and yellowing of original artboards intact! Needless to say, Walter Simonson's artwork is dynamic and powerful. After viewing his artwork in this book, I was humbled to look at my own art style for my upcoming graphic novel Asreeth, Lion Warrior: The Horn of Shanda'mer from a new perspective. Simonson has such a rough yet clean and graphic look to his work in this book, that I am trying to incorporate some of it in my current work. Time will tell if I succeed!
